Bowel care for SCI patients- Half day course

To increase staff awareness and understanding of spinal cord injuries and the care needs of individuals with spinal cord injuries

On completion of the course the learner should

• Understand what spinal cord injury (SCI) is
• Be able to explain the anatomy and physiology of the spinal cord
• Know the common causes and Implications of SCI
• Understand how a SCI is diagnosis and classified
• Understand their role in SCI rehabilitation
• Understand their role in Bowel management
• Able to prevent and manage Autonomic Dysreflexia
• Be aware of other care considerations for a SCI patient
