Basic Life Support- Half day course

To ensure the learner has underpinning knowledge for recognition of signs of life and can competently deliver Basic Life Support, in accordance with the Resuscitation council guidelines

On completion of the course the learner should:

  • Have a knowledge and be able to explain the chain of survival
  • Be able to assess for the signs of life, and recognise need for Basic life support
  • Be able to demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults children and patient with an artificial airway (tracheostomy tube)
  • Be able to use the AEDs,
  • Be able to place the patient in the recovery position
  • Be able to demonstrate how to support a choking patient
  • Be able to recognise and manage a patient experiencing anaphylaxis
