To ensure the learner has underpinning knowledge for recognition of signs of life and can competently deliver Basic Life Support, in accordance with the Resuscitation council guidelines
On completion of the course the learner should:
Have a knowledge and be able to explain the chain of survival
Be able to assess for the signs of life, and recognise need for Basic life support
Be able to demonstrate cardiopulmonary resuscitation in adults children and patient with an artificial airway (tracheostomy tube)
Be able to use the AEDs,
Be able to place the patient in the recovery position
Be able to demonstrate how to support a choking patient
Be able to recognise and manage a patient experiencing anaphylaxis
